L3 Senior Network Engineer  

Overview

To provide advanced to expert support for the network infrastructure within one of Merlin’s Infrastructure support teams and support a global organization. The team members will be expected to join project teams for optimization of the infrastructure and operations i.e. deployment and usage of new tool and process introduction, as well as software tool upgrades.

Summary

• Assist in Networking projects.
• Define Networking requirements.
• Plan Networking migrations.
• Provide advanced to expert troubleshooting of CISCO devices related issues including switches and routers.
• Support legacy networking devices.
• Support and configure network monitoring software.
• Provide feedback and help in the testing of new technical design ensuring the design is maintainable and extendable.
• Be responsible for software/firmware upgrades of the network devices.
• Maintain good health and backup.
  • Ensure availability of network infrastructures.
• Serve as main point of contact for network activities of Infrastructure Team.
• Perform proactive WAN/LAN monitoring.
• Resolve all issues at HW and OS level.
  • Classify and escalate other issues to other senior team members on-site or refer to on-call.
• Keep incident management SOPs, WIs, and other documentation up-to-date.
• Manage network documents such as network diagrams, server layout, and network configuration details.
• Perform vendor management activities such coordination with ISP, Telecoms, and other third party providers.
• Be the last line of defense before vendor escalations.
• Update incident tickets.
• Join team meetings.
• Participate and/or lead projects on infrastructure support activities (i.e. tools deployment, tool upgrades).
• Collaborate with the team and participates during knowledge transfer activities.

• Knowledgeable or skilled in:
  • Riverbed Administration
  • Solarwinds Administration
  • Network Monitoring tools management/Network traffic/Packet level analysis
  • WireShark/Netmon Analysis
• Preferably with experience in the following:
  • Remote management
  • LINUX and UNIX
  • HP ProLiant hardware
  • Dell hardware
  • Nagios Administration
  • Zscaler Administration
• Unified Threat Management Appliance experience.
• IT industry certifications is an advantage such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, etc.
• Excellent understanding of TCP/IP based networks.
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills.
• Strong communication skills, customer-oriented personality
• Able to multitask and change according to demand.
• Willingness to work early and late shifts from Monday to Friday including bank holidays, and also provide on-call standby service on the weekend.
