In September 2016, the idea of creating an app that functions as a personal stylist came about when at a coffee shop, Winzendy Tedja, the founder of Yuna & Co. wondered if only he could look as dashing as Singapore’s River Valley crowd with only a limited time he’d got in hand. With that idea in mind, Winzendy waited no further drafting a business plan and putting together a fashion-tech dream team… and Yuna & Co. was born. The founders envision Yuna to be the go-to fashion matchmaker for every woman in South East Asia. They would like to see Yuna’s styling advices really help millennial women dress up for any occasion, whether they are going to black tie events or the airport. The trio believe that to make Yuna a reliable fashion matchmaker at one’s fingertips, Yuna has to be able to engage with users at a personal level. Hence, the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technology becomes the driving force behind the platform, taking the form of a chat bot you are now familiar with. It came as no surprise that Yuna’s mission was quickly embraced, tapping into the growing desire for other talents to come together, to share their ideas, and take a plunge into the fashion and tech worlds with greater gusto. Yuna’s community of ambitious creative minds and developers now gather daily to support each other’s goings on, to explore new fascinating topics, and to plot their next big moves.
