Job Description
The Financial Reporting Unit is responsible for the preparation of accurate, timely and relevant financial reports for Management, affiliates and various government regulatory bodies. Also responsible for the registration and maintenance of the Company’s books of accounts and other documents necessary for the preparation of various financial reports and analyses.
- Sets objectives, targets and strategies of the Unit in support of the goals and objectives of the Department.
- Monitors the performance of the Unit versus plans and standards, analyses deviations, pinpoints areas for improvement and directs appropriate courses of action to ensure prompt and proper solution.
- Translates objectives and strategies into financial plans, sets standards and evaluates and monitor actual performance versus budget.
- Variance analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts for management information and action
- Sends weekly updates on the status of accounting on Check Vouchers, Official Receipts, and Journal Voucher to all accounting Bookkeepers.
- Coordinates with the Bookkeepers on the timely take-up of transactions and submission of documents and reports necessary for the preparation and completion of the Financial Statements.
- Coordinates with the Bureau of Internal Revenue on the registration of books of accounts.
- Coordinates with the Philippine Statistics Authority on their quarterly and annual statistical survey.
- Coordinates with External Auditors.
- Coordinates with Insurance Commission and Securities Exchange Commission in submission of required reports.
- Reviews accounting entries, and monitors monthly schedules/reports prepared by the Bookkeepers for various transactions.
- Prepares monthly journal entries on transactions involving actuarial valuation accounts.
- Reviews Statement of Account of affiliates; Statement of Accountabilities of resigned employees; and the Quarterly and Annual Statistical data submitted to the Philippine Statistics Authority.
- Posts transactions to Check Voucher, Official Receipt, and Journal Voucher modules; and to the General Ledger System including the Year-end posting to close the books.
- Generates the following monthly reports:
- Trial Balance;
- Balance Sheet;
- Income Statement; and Consolidated Expense
- Prepares the following reports:
- Investment Committee Report;
- Management Committee Report;
- Executive Committee Report;
- Board Report; and
- Other supplement schedules and analyses.
- Reviews, analyses, and ensures timely submission of various reporting requirements to:
- Management;
- Internal Auditors; and
- External Auditors.
- Responsible for the registration with BIR, safekeeping, and maintenance of the Company’s book of accounts such as the General Ledger, Journal Voucher Register, Cash Receipts Register, and Cash Disbursement Register.
- Formulates monitoring systems and control measures to improve efficiency of the Unit.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience working in the Life Insurance Industry.
- Preferably with audit experience in the Life Insurance Industry.
- Knowledge in spreadsheet and word processor/software.
- Strong analytical and planning skills.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
