Job Description
DIRECTLY REPORTS TO:
Head of Product
MAIN AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
As Product Design Lead, you will be the driver in designing experiences for Sprout’s products. One key aspect of your role is a thorough understanding of the right balance between design, business and customers.
TASKS:
- Oversees all areas of design: architecture of layouts, flows and interactions, detailed aesthetics for both written and visual content, usability testing
- Establish Sprout’s design standards based on industry best practices
- Collaborate on user experience and design planning
- Create user interfaces across multiple platforms
- Thrive within a data-driven design culture and quickly react to changes and new feature requirements driven by user analytics
- Develop and own a design process that enables efficiency/speed and ensures a positive and ever-improving user experience and team culture
- Be a thought leader who can take a step back on overarching goals and opportunities, while also acting as a product practitioner who can meticulously work alongside his/her teams with domain knowledge and design prowess
- Establish design acceptance criteria for the product, and ensure that the implementation meets design standards.
- Play a leadership role in resolving unclear direction or unknown variables
- The ability to engage in strategy discussions. Weigh tradeoffs between business, technical, and customer contexts.
- Mentoring of designers with less experience to improve their skillset.
- Manage the development of team members through dedicated mentorship, or less formal coaching and advice.
Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS | COMPETENCIES:
- Proven leadership in UX and UI design
- Expertise in HTML5 and CSS3
- In-depth understanding of the entire UX and development process
- Familiarity with browser testing and debugging
- Strong empathy for customers
- Has a good eye for design
- Deep understanding of layout aesthetics
- Has a track record of being a high achiever
- Ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment in a team and individually
- Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
