The Role: Sr. Research Analyst, Aluminum and Ferrous Metals

In this dynamic role, you will gather content relating to metal market supply and demand components concentrating largely on ferrous metals, such as steel and scrap, analyzing this data to produce insightful forward-looking research.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will have experience as an analyst focused on ferrous metals, be educated to degree level or above, and have an enthusiastic and keen approach to learning and developing on their existing knowledge of commodity markets. Experience in building supply/demand and price forecasting models will be advantageous.

Responsibilities: Including but not limited to:

• Modelling end-sector supply/demand for a commodity’s supply chain.
• Assessing impacts of energy transition efforts on future demand
• Researching, analyzing and publishing commentary on topical events pertinent to metals & mining markets.
• Regular publishing and production of price forecasts.
• Participation in business development activities and external representation as required, such as at conferences or client roadshows.
• Communication on and defense of your work to clients.
• Some business travel as required.

Qualifications:

• Established experience as an analyst in the metals or mining space.
• Proven strong research and analysis experience.
• Strong writing and presentation skills.
• Background in Trade Steel, Aluminum, Economics or Humanities.
• Advanced MS Excel Skills. (Required.)
• Solid numeric analytical and problem solving capabilities.
• Familiarity with PowerBI, Tableau, SQL and Python is a plus.
