Database Administrator for Linux | L11  

Job Description - Overview:
The Senior Database Systems Administrator will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of the information systems’ databases. The DBA provides technical expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of database management systems that support the core banking systems business applications. The databases currently deployed are a mixture of PostgreSQL, NoSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Oracle.

Key Job Functions and Duties:
➢ Install and maintain the performance of database servers.
➢ Develop processes for optimizing database security.
➢ Set and maintain database standards.
➢ Manage database access.
➢ Performance tuning of database systems.
➢ Install, upgrade, and manage database applications.
➢ Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
➢ Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
➢ Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
➢ Create automation for repeating database tasks.
➢ Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

General skills:
➢ Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools
➢ Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
➢ Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
➢ Design and implement database in accordance to end user’s information requirements
➢ Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data
➢ Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses
➢ Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures, and standards
➢ Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity
➢ Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
➢ Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
➢ Experience working with Linux

Desired Experience & Qualities:
➢ Deep experience in database administration in a Linux / Unix environment
➢ Experience in Oracle Enterprise version 12c.
➢ Work effectively with System Administrators/Engineers, DBA’s, Programmers, Project Managers, Business Representatives, Vendors and/or Analysts to complete tasks in a timely manner

Qualifications and Accreditations:
➢ Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified Associate
➢ MongoDB Certified Professional
➢ MySQL Database Administration
➢ NoSQL Database Certification

Reporting structure:
The Database admin reports to the Infrastructure Head.
