Job Description
The Corporate External Relations Officer is responsible in maintaining a constructive presence nationwide and establishing personal and professional relationships between the Aboitiz group and the national government agencies and other regulatory bodies, with the objective to foster mutually beneficial connections for the company and its stakeholders, in accordance with law and within the governance and policies of the Aboitiz Group.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Relationship Building
- Develop, build and sustain meaningful relationships with key personnel assigned at various levels in government agencies and regulatory bodies.
- For cases where BUs are unable to establish contacts in a government office or agency, serve as point of contact between the Aboitiz Group’s business units and government agencies for prompt resolution of issues affecting their operations.
Policy and Regulation Monitoring
- Identify and monitor critical proposed policies and regulations which would have an impact on the Aboitiz Group’s business or operations.
- Inform and advise SBUs of important hearings and consultations of government and regulatory agencies. It is the SBU’s responsibility to assign a representative, who is knowledgeable of the subject, to participate and uphold the Aboitiz Group’s interest.
- Ensure that the Corporate External Affairs Unit and the Aboitiz Group are up to date on political, business, policy and legal developments and requirements on current and planned policy trends that may expose the company to potential risks or open up investment/business opportunities.
Industry and Stakeholder Management
- Propose and facilitate “out of the box” solutions to complex problems involving government offices and agencies and the processing of critical documents.
- Provide support and advise to the SBUs on the processing of documents and permits which are vital to their operations and future investments. It is the SBUs’ primary responsibility to handle operational matters, such as processing and follow up of documents and permits.
- Project Management
- Use existing or propose engagement programs and projects that can support relationship building and stakeholder management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law, Political Science, Management or equivalent
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience and exposure to network building with the government; familiar with government operations
- Must possess a law degree; a member of good standing of the Philippine Bar viewed favorably
