Controller  

The Controller is responsible for the design and implementation of the airport business’ financial accounting systems, procedures, and controls to mitigate risk and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s reported financial results while developing a culture of accountability and discipline.

In particular, the Controller:

• Oversees the efficiency and quality of the financial accounting and reporting, in compliance with both the information needs of the business and the statutory need of relevant regulatory bodies
• In consultation with the Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. (AIC) Controller and AIC CFO, determines the appropriate financial processes and systems to optimize accuracy and efficiency in processing and reporting
• Coordinates effectively with individual business unit finance, accounting managers, and accountants to ensure common approaches and standards of financial information collection and reporting across the airport business

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Develop accounting principles, standards, practices, and procedures, and monitor that all these are consistently practiced
• Set direction for accounting practices recognizing the needs of the business leaders for intelligent and timely information, as well as the requirements of the country’s regulatory bodies
• In consultation with the Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. (AIC) CFO, AIC Controller, and individual business financial controllers/accountants, establish and champion the adoption of a common set of systems, standards and processes right across the Group
• Keep the AIC CFO, the ManCom and other relevant committees up to date with new practices and trends in financial accounting that may be material to the Group, while at the same time, manage the sharing of knowledge of such practices and trends with accountants around the Group
• In coordination with the financial planning & analysis team and the business unit controllers, assist in the preparation of management information reports, and ensure that the information provided is effectively analyzed and particular attention drawn to implications of interest or concern
• Proactively consult with the AIC CFO and appropriate business leaders on any matter perceived as representing a matter of concern or an opportunity for improvement in financial strength
• Implement effective tax planning and compliance in companies handled
• Implement effective internal control systems
• Prepare AIC airport business consolidated projections and budget
• Oversee the airport accounting team, and ensure they are the role models to the rest of the Group on accuracy and consistency in adherence to the agreed systems, standards, and processes
• Develop and sustain productive and effective working relationships with key regulators, such as the Security and Exchange Commissions, and Bureau of Internal Revenue
• Team Management

• Minimum of 3 years of managerial experience in the accounting/finance department of an operating company
• Experience in a start-up company or transitioning environment is an advantage
• Fluency in speaking and understanding the Visayan language is a plus
