Actuarial Manager  

Assists the head in planning, organizing and directing the activities of the Financial, Group Technical & Special Services unit.

Responsible for providing actuarial reports required by regulatory bodies or external auditors or internal clients, computation and analysis of actuarial and financial items required for the sound management of the company, and conducting studies that are timely and essential to the company’s goals of leadership, profitability and financial stability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists the head in setting objectives and strategies of the unit
• Oversees the work of Actuarial Analysts and acts as Team Leader in various projects/studies
• Translates objectives and strategies into financial plans, sets standards and evaluates and monitor actual performance versus budget.
• Valuation of the Company’s assets/liabilities
• Preparation of various schedules and exhibits for the Company’s Annual Statement for submission to the Insurance Commission
• Projection of actuarial and other related figures in support of the company’s budgeting/planning exercises, asset-liability management and risk management activities
• Periodic actuarial studies on mortality, morbidity, persistence, branch profitability, agents productivity and retention limit
• Feasibility and profitability studies on DepEd loans, migrants insurance and other developmental undertakings
• Preparation of statements of account, reinsurance recoveries, experience refund computations, regulatory and internal reports
• Oversees the design, preparation and submission of the following statistical and financial reports
• Coordinates with other units for the data requirements
• Provides assistance to Group Marketing in premium computation
• Provides assistance to other units in the computation of VL policy values
• Coordinates with reinsurers for submission of reports
• Attends to queries and reportorial requirements of the Insurance Commission for migrants insurance
• Assists in the regular monitoring of performance relative to plans and standards, analyzes deviations, pinpoints areas for improvement and directs appropriate courses of action to ensure prompt and proper solution with approval and guidance from the Head of the Financial, Group Technical & Special Services unit.
• Oversees / implements regular updates and improvements to the actuarial software product datasets for the assigned business lines
• Participates in the preparation of reports for Monthly Update Meetings; attends unit meetings
• Develops competent technical staff, and promotes the professional and personal growth of staff

• At least 3 years of experience related to the position
• Proficient in spreadsheet software and programming
• SA/ ASP credits
• Strong analytical, planning and management skills
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
