Agriculturist  

Duties and Responsibilities

• Advise farmers on soil management, breeding animals ‘living conditions, crop protection, environmental sustainability, disease and harvesting.
• Coordinates with government agencies such as with the Department of Agriculture to bring information on current trends in agriculture and demonstrates new products or services.
• Carries out applied and field research into environmental conditions, product effectiveness and animal nutrition and health.
• Provide farmers with appropriate news, information or developments.
• Regular visit to the farm and production sites for evaluations.
• Responds to questions from individual farmers and field workers or maintenance about the health of food, soil and environment.
• Responsible for sourcing or selling of farm produce.
• Execute a comprehensive agricultural plan for existing and future plantation.
• Perform all other items, tasks or duties that may be assigned from time to time.

II. Qualifications

A. Minimum Education

Graduate of bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Agricultural Management

B. Minimum Experience/Training

Knowledgeable in Horticultural and range practices, safety procedures and greenhouse operations

Must have an interest in the science of both animals and plants

C. Competency

Good communication and listening skills

Must be able to work alone as well a part of a team

Should be analytical and creative when it comes to problem-solving

Computer literate and proficient in:

MS Word

MS Excel

Any Email Software

Should have strong organizational skills
