Head of Business Development  

Overall: The Head of Business Development is responsible for identifying new partnerships and developing a product set that meets the needs of the partners.

Lead the Business Development Team (small team of product managers)

• Identify suitable staff and work to bring them on-board
• Train and motivate the team. Monitor performance and support staff

Identify partners
• Review alternative products for Netbank. Understand the business rationale, underlying economics, and sales approach for the product
• Select a long-list of partners suitable for partnership with Netbank for each product. Understand the priorities
of these partners and so create a sales plan for the partner
• Present Netbank’s approach to the partners and identify ways to implement
• Conduct commercial negotiations with the partners

Design products
• Understand the product requirements of different business models
• Liaise with delivery managers to understand existing system capabilities
• Determine commercial arrangements with partners

Design Pilots for new product areas (such as savings accounts, payroll, accounts with electricity coops, etc.)
• Design new product pilots with partners, including identification of objectives, time plan, resource
requirements, etc.
• Build enthusiasm for the pilot, including with donor partners
• Implement the pilot, building enthusiasm for the initiative

• Experience in banking business models, sales
• Ability to create contacts across potential partners
• Commercial product design and expertise
• Solution selling: Understanding the issues facing a client, designing solutions, relationship management to ensure Netbank is ‘part of the same team’
• Content expertise in banking, especially in lending, deposit accounts, business analysis, etc.
• Leadership skills in developing a strong product development team
