Site Engineer  

A Site Engineer is part of the site management team and takes some of the responsibility for security, health and safety, and organizing and supervising materials and people. Site engineers mark out the site, make sure designs are applied correctly and liaise with main and sub-contractors and the site manager. Regular liaison with the client, its representatives, and any consultants is another key part of the job.

Key tasks of the job include:

• Managing parts of construction projects.
• Overseeing building work.
• Undertaking surveys.
• Setting out sites and organizing facilities.
• Checking technical designs and drawings to ensure that they are followed correctly.
• Supervising contracted staff.
• Ensuring projects meet agreed specifications, budgets, or timescales.
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and other professional staff, especially Quantity Surveyor and the overall Project Manager.
• Providing technical advice and solving problems on site.
• Preparing site reports and filling in other paperwork.
• Liaising with Quantity Surveyors about the ordering and negotiating the price of materials.
• Ensuring that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to.

• BS Civil Engineering graduate.
• Board Passer.
• 2 years of work experience in the same discipline.
• Proficient in the English language, both oral and written.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills.
• Computer literate.
• Analytical, accurate, and has attention to detail.
