Communications Manager

We think it is pretty cool that our marketplace hosts a real life economy, where work is undertaken in every area you can think of. From design, writing, data entry and software development; through to sales, marketing, accounting and legal services - even NASA uses us!

We have an awesome opportunity for a Communications Manager to help promote Freelancer, and have a huge impact on our business in the process. If you think about the nature of Freelancer, we have so many stories that have media potential. From the global freelance movement and the future of work itself, to individual accounts of the freelancers and entrepreneurs whose lives have been changed through our site. And that doesn’t even consider the tech/startup sector itself, especially considering the potential for further growth.

You’ll work closely with senior management and the global PR team to define communications strategies, and will then be responsible for executing those plans. Seniority is not too important to us; we are open to those looking to take ownership and accelerate their career, and if you’re a journalist looking for a change, we are interested in you too. It really all comes down to attitude and capability.

• Ability to research media stories, develop press releases, draft press materials and liaise with journalists to ultimately create media attention and promote the company

• Has an established network in the media

• People person, with excellent oral and written communication skills

• Reads the news - is up to date on current trends and happenings

• Not afraid to get in front of the camera, or speak at events, if a story requires it

• Knowledge of technology is a big plus, but not essential
