The Desktop Engineer is responsible for evaluating, implementing, supporting applications and technologies for maintaining the Firm’s standard workstation image. As a member of the Desktop Engineering team, he/she will be responsible for providing assessments and recommendations for new and innovative procedures and technologies for image creation and support. The position is a mixture of day-to-day support activities combined with planning and development efforts that provide processes that lead to improvements and stability of our desktop and deployment systems.
Duties and Accountabilities:
- Development of policies and procedures for streamlining installations and upgrades of the Firm’s workstations with proven and innovative technologies.
- Managing standard image designs, configuration of desktop systems, and support of desktop systems firm wide.
- Design automated installation or upgrade processes for end user desktops and/or laptops using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, Flexera AdminStudio software packaging and deployment technologies.
- Responsible for researching and developing technologies for package installation and deployment in relation to the Desktop environments, both physical and virtual.
- Responsible for addressing technical related incidents with the Firm’s major applications systems in relation to the standard firm image and technologies.
- Activities include standardized image creation, troubleshooting, package creation and package implementation solutions.
- Planning efforts include application configuration, installation, and requirements gathering.
- Assist in the administration and scheduling of daily operations of the various deployment systems to assure maximum performance and stability.
- Maintain all daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly administration documentation procedures related to image creation, deployment and software packaging.
- Provide general engineering support to assist in evaluation of new products and technologies.
- Work with users and GTS staff to identify and troubleshoot persistent problems in our environment.
Kualifikasi Minimum
- 3 + years experience in application repackaging, deployment and troubleshooting, while demonstrating strong technical skills.
- Proficient in Visual Basic (VBScript) and PowerShell scripting technologies
- College degree or relevant work experience.
- Advanced technical knowledge of the Windows 7, 8 operating systems, including thorough knowledge of the registry, system policies, and group policy settings in a networked environment.
- Experience with supporting operating and software deployments with the use of SCCM and MDT.
- Experience with the configuration of Microsoft Office and related document management software.
- Familiarity with managing third party standard business applications.
- Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have excellent communication, customer service, follow-up, and organizational skill sets.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to think outside the box.
- Team player who is ambitious and motivated.
- Detailed oriented person with the willingness to learn.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and patience working with others.
- Ability to travel or work beyond your scheduled shift, if needed.
