Pharmacist  

Handle releasing of drugs at the front-end area of the pharmacy for both outpatient and inpatient customers. Ensure efficiency in the dispensary area of the pharmacy. Manage the inventory or monitoring of all supplies of the pharmacy. In-charge of the Pharmacy Inventory database (monitors all generics or brands, expiry and batch codes).

Responsibilities:

Drug Dispensing

• Process medication orders and prescriptions to provide medications ordered by Physicians and nurses for patients
• Discuss medication order clarifications with the prescriber, document any pharmacy records and inform others of medication order changes
• Review medication orders for appropriateness and IV admixtures, TPN, extemporaneous compounding, powder packet preparations and unit dose medication prepared by Pharmacist I to meet patient needs
• Monitors and Controls inventory to ensure that drugs are available when and wastage is minimized
• Provides drug information to health care professionals and to patient
• Reviews physician orders for possible therapeutic problems, contraindications, interactions, allergies and formulary status of drug

Inventory:

• Assure proper drug handling, storage, and use.
• Examine labeling procedures and expiration date of medications.
• Inspect, audit and record medications dispensed in the areas/unit stored as floor stock.
• Ensure 100% compliance to Pharmacy standards to assure the quality, proper storage and safe use of all kinds of drugs and medications.
• Regularly inspect pharmacy stocks stored in the warehouse.

Record and Report Management

• Log and endorse all transactions made within the shift including pending medicines, critical incidents and problems encountered
• Prepare reports and recommendations for E- cart and narcotic preparation.
• Establish and maintain standards which assure the quality, proper storage and safe use of all medications
• Prepare reports as assigned by immediate superior

Performs other functions that may be assigned by the immediate superior.

• Must be a graduate of BS Pharmacy and a Registered Pharmacist
• Clinical Pharmacy background is a plus but not required
• Strong analytical and planning skills
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
