Data Science Associate  

Purpose

• Deep interest in research and data analysis, capturing actionable insights from data
• Reports to Data Analytics and Data Science Lead
• Collaborates with internal and external teams
• Assists Data Scientists in developing, implementing, and deploying products and solutions that help clients convert their data into insights.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Help translate business needs and requirements to technical specifications 
• Training
  • Undergo Data Science Associate Program (partly supervised and party self-initiated)
  • Complete Data Science/Machine Learning mockup projects
• Assist in Projects
  • Work on some aspects of a Data Science/Machine Learning pipeline (depending on current skillset and need of the projects)
• Data exploration, preprocessing
  • Setting up and training Machine Learning models
  • Report, Communicate Updates
• As a team member,
  • Help cultivate a psychologically safe environment
  • Encourage and help other team members on their weak points, as well as be open to asking for other team members’ help on your weak points
  • Share knowledge (via brown bag or technical sessions)
• Perform similar duties aligned with the proper execution of roles and responsibilities assigned

Minimum Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science, Math, Physics, Data Science, or any other related field

• (And/Or) An equivalent of the same in working experience

Minimum Experience/Training

• Nice-to-have

  • Familiar with the basic ideas and concepts of Machine Learning and/or Data Science, Machine Learning algorithms, Linear Algebra, Statistics

  • Experience with Pandas, Numpy, sklearn

  • Experience implementing a Machine Learning project (can be as a project in a company, a freelance project, or a personal project)

Competency

• Distinctive problem-solving and analytical skills combined with effective communication skills 

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (esp. Microsoft Excel) and G Suite

• Comfortable with at least 1 programming language

Working Conditions

• Main office is at Makati

• Full-time position

• 6 months probation

• Collaborate with internal and external teams

• Attend trainings and get certifications

• On-site activities at times

• Engage in pre-sales activities such as product demos, scoping discussion, and other presentations for different groups, from Executives to end users

• Hold multiple hats at times (like Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Project Manager, Pre-sales)

• When Needed, perform work outside of the provided schedule

• Accountable for performance of solutions or systems developed and deployed
