Job Description

The Operations Specialist is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organisational values, enabling staff to perform their respective roles, and enabling the company’s clients to consume IT services.

This role assists project teams during the planning phase and assists project teams with technical issues identified during project delivery phases. These activities include technical analysis and design; and support of the IT Operations team in executing, testing and deploying solutions.

Given the critical nature of the client’s IT systems, this role participates in the after-hours support.

This individual is accountable for the following systems:

  • Systems that provide services to the broader business
  • Systems that provide services to clients
  • Services that are provisioned to support the company’s strategic and tactical goals

The Operations Specialist will be required to work on client systems that are protected by state and/or federal security mechanisms. The individual must hold, or be willing/able to obtain, relevant security clearances as required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Engineers solutions to achieve business goals
  • Installs and configures systems to support the delivery of IT Services
  • Developing and maintaining installation and configuration procedures
  • Contributing to and maintaining system standards
  • Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks
  • Performs routine system monitoring
  • Working with the latest Azure technologies to deliver a stable platform for our customers
  • Reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Performing regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
  • Ensuring the integrity of corporate data
  • Manages user accounts in multiple systems
  • Maintaining the Office365 environment, including user identities and email systems;
  • Repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures. Coordinates and communicates with impacted clients
  • Working with clients to resolve technical issues
  • Participates in projects as required – both internal and client-facing
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree, Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.

  • Required skill(s): Microsoft Azure, MSQL, Shell Scripts.

  • Required language(s): English

  • At least 10 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

  • Preferably Supervisor / 5 Yrs & Up Experienced Employees specializing in IT/Computer - Network/System/Database Admin or equivalent.

  • Full-Time position(s) available.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Fluent English – written and spoken
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a similar role preferably in a hosted service industry
  • Degree or higher in IT
  • Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE or others)
  • Have flexible work hours – be able to work night shift (12 am onwards)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the provisioning and configuration of Azure IaaS and PaaS components and general Azure services
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Proven initiative and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to create a professional design and implementation documents
  • Advanced level of automation skills using PowerShell and other modern scripting technologies
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft SQL Server management
  • Advanced skills in MSQL language
  • Advanced skills in networking, VNETs, DNS, firewalls, and networking systems such as Radware and WatchGuard
  • Advanced skills in SSL Certificates
  • Advanced skills in administering Windows Server 2008 and 2012
  • Advanced skills in administering Domain Controllers, Active Directory, Hyper-V
  • Advanced skills in administering IIS
  • Advanced skills in automation using PowerShell
  • Advanced troubleshooting techniques
  • Be able to obtain a security clearance
