Job Description

Department Head - Finance, Accounting & Compliance in close coordination with the Accounting Manager, leads and oversees the accounting, finance and compliance obligations of the company. Department Head - Finance, Accounting and Compliance, the incumbents responsibilities include but are not limited to, overseeing the preparation of financial statements, analytical and forecasting activities that will allow management to make informed and timely strategic and financial decisions related to the businesses activities.

Strategic Management and Planning

  • Managing the financial reporting for the organization. This includes monthly financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, 5-year financial plans and all statutory financial reporting.
  • Providing sound financial support and insights to enable the Management to make critical business decisions
  • Presentation of financial results and insights to the Board.
  • Play a key role in the formulation of the business's strategy.
  • Coordinate and direct the management and delivery of organization-wide strategic projects and initiatives.
  • Develop, foster, and maintain effective relationships with all relevant external stakeholders and organizations.
  • Managing and tracking budget and accounting information including billing, collections, and tax information.

Line Management

  • Provide effective management and leadership, and conduct performance and development reviews of staff managed, to ensure motivated performance, high quality service delivery and achievement of the business plan.
  • Develop and support effective team working by staff managed.

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Risk Management to ensure the business has a solid risk framework in place.
  • Forecast expenses in considerations of risk and opportunities.
  • Managing and overseeing the taxation affairs of the organization and liaising with the external tax firm for specialist advice.
  • Managing and overseeing the cash flow of the company and ensuring it has the appropriate treasury controls.
  • Managing hedging and foreign currencies (if relevant).
  • Managing the External Auditor relationship and ensuring the organization is compliant with accounting standards.

Establish Finance and Accounting Processes

  • A key part of the role of the is to review and refine finance and accounting processes. The goal of streamlining these processes and procedures is to ensure that each client gets great experience.
  • Continuously drive processes, systems and reporting improvement in response to the changing organizational structure and business needs.
  • Undertake other financial analysis and management support tasks as may be required/assigned by Management.

Budget Management

  • Ensure the proper management, reporting and reforecasting of controlled budgets, and participate in budgeting and financial management at departmental level as required.
  • Provide direct responsibility for compliance costs, such as external audit, property leases and minimizing irrecoverable VAT.

Reports and Other Tasks

  • Oversee the treasury team and tasks such as, but not limited to, monitoring of cash balances, checking and verification of invoices, consolidation, verification and finalization of year-end accounts.
  • Contribute to team meetings and organizational priorities.
  • Proactive in keeping up to date with developments affecting the role.
  • Carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the post.
  • Abide by organizational policies and practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Leadership –must have a strong leadership skill in order to motivate and lead their team effectively and to ensure that junior employees have the knowledge they need to do their jobs well.
  • Communication Skills –must possess a strong interpersonal skill, which enables them to communicate with their team, give clear instructions, and provide great customer service.
  • Computer Skills – The administrative side of this role requires excellent computer skills to analyze data and create reports.
  • Teamwork –need to work well as part of a team, to take on tasks during busier periods to help colleagues, and to be of assistance or offer guidance to other members of staff.
  • Detail-Oriented – This position requires analytical skills and the ability to interpret information from numerous sources to prepare and present reports. For this aspect of the role, being detail-oriented and able to find focused solutions to business problems is useful
  • Quick decision-making and effective communication in a fast-paced, high volume organization.
  • Experience and Success operating in a fast-paced environment- where deadlines, priorities, and initiatives change frequently.
  • Proven experience as Department Head of Finance in a high growth company or a related industry
  • Excellent knowledge of cash flow management, bank reconciliation and bookkeeping.
  • Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management.
  • Education - Bachelor's degree, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a BPO and or Shared Services set up or similar environment.
