Job Description
Oro Filipinas is looking for a Research and Development Specialist to spearhead product innovation, from assessing market needs to the development and delivery of premium chocolate products that meet our quality and food safety standards.
The R&D / QA Specialist shall spearhead product innovation and oversee the development and implementation of food safety and quality standards to ensure compliance with both internal and external requirements.
The R&D / QA Specialist will report directly to the Plant Manager and be in charge of the following:
Research and Development
- Manage new product development projects from recipe creation to lab prototype and then to industrial product
- Operate laboratory and analytical equipment for the trials and testing
- Coordinate logistics for raw materials and sample delivery/acquisition

Review and maintain up-to-date knowledge of current international regulations and relevant technical product and processing information

Complete and submit documentation to support regulatory requirements and claims

Assist in LTO and CPR processing
Quality Assurance
- Develop and provide training for food safety and quality requirements

Develop and maintain up-to-date documentation, policies and procedures such as SOP’s, GMP’s and HACCP's in line with ISO 9000 & ISO 22000 management standards.

Develop sensory evaluation procedure and participate in food tasting to ensure stringent quality controls and flavor requirements are met.

Assist production in investigation of quality incidents and implementation of corrective actions, as needed, to increase organizational consistency and ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner

Ensure proper maintenance and sanitation of the whole factory in compliance with current good manufacturing practices related to food safety requirements

Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all products coming in and out of the facility meet company specifications, and food safety and quality standards

Design and implement testing procedures of raw materials, work in process, packaging materials, and finished goods. Also includes analysis of data derived from testing.

Ensure traceability of products and ability for immediate recall, if needed
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in Research and Development at a food manufacturing facility, experience in confectionary a plus
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Technology, Chemistry, Engineering or related technical field
- Knowledge of and experience with FDA, HACCP, GMP and/or ISO 9000 / ISO 22000
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Desire and ability to understand the principles and application of cocoa/chocolate science
- Strong written and verbal communication, effective organization, ability to work independently and collaboratively, basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
