Job Description

We are looking for a creative, entrepreneurial, food-obsessed, and organized in-house chef to lead our kitchen day-to-day operations and related income-generating projects.

Reporting to the Recipe and Kitchen Manager, the In-House Chef will own the Culinary Innovation Center (CIC) kitchen manual and operations. He/she will work cross-functionally to support category efforts in recipe development and market research through the CIC.

To drive efficiency and ensure the quality of service of kitchen operations, the in-house chef will establish and implement the kitchen manual and SOPs of the newly constructed test kitchen near the head office. This includes (1) managing the kitchen’s day-to-day activities, (2) developing recipes for Corporate NutriAsia, and (3) ensuring the profitability and usefulness of the space.

As NutriAsia continuously expands to new channels, he/she will ensure the sustainability of the kitchen through income-generating projects like JoyRide!, the company’s food retail offer. He/she will put together a business model for a start-up food business that will cater to NutriAsia’s new generation of consumers. The channel will serve as an opportunity to reintroduce our legacy brands as well as create awareness of our new brands.

This position is ideal for someone with a passion for process systems, cooking, innovations, and a desire to grow brands. He/she should have recipe/product development, process standardization, kitchen management, or operations experience; is dedicated, proactive, and a positive team player ready for their next challenge.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • NutriAsia Test & Showcase Kitchen

Owner of the NutriAsia Test Kitchen

Establish Kitchen Manual/Standards and Inventory Module to ensure seamless operations

Identify and purchase appliances, wares, and materials needed to serve its stakeholders

Manage day-to-day activities in the kitchen with the help of the operations kitchen staff

Opening and closing protocols

Preventive maintenance, repairs, and pest control schedule

Inventory and budget monitoring

Rental schedules

Maintain cleanliness and order

Coordinate with different departments that will make use of the kitchen

Ensure operational efficiency and profitability of the Test Kitchen

Conducts taste tests and enforces standard testing across categories and the company.

Assists in the development of new recipes for category requirements – social media, packaging, merchandising, etc.

Oversees shoot/production of images/videos for the Recipe Archive

Manages a network of Chef partners and consultants

Launch JoyRide as a food retail business

Ensure the operational efficiency and profitability of JoyRide!

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Nutrition and Dietetics, HRIM, Culinary Arts, or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in kitchen operations or product development from a consumer goods company/food service/retail company or related field of discipline.
  • With relevant culinary skills and operations knowledge in the field of food production, kitchen operations, culinary arts, and/or research and development.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, good leadership and interpersonal skills along with good analytical aptitude.
  • Creative, innovative, flexible, and resourceful.
  • Must be able to use the computer for analytical and administrative tasks.
  • Must have strong technical background to document and establish kitchen processes and operations.
  • Must have good aptitude in organizing, planning, leading, and controlling low-degree complex activities that involve the annual or similar medium-term scheduling, controlling, and monitoring of his / her responsibility.
