About Coins

Coins is one of the first blockchain backed platforms serving over 10 million customers. Founded in 2014 in the Philippines, Coins intended to improve accessibility of financial services in the country. The company’s mobile app now provides consumers with direct access to banking and digital payment services, including local and international remittances, mobile air-time, bill payments, game credits, and online shopping. You will be a part of our geographically spread remote international team of highly skilled professionals.

Our Team

• Ops Compliance team covers all compliance-related matters: ensures that the verification system, which allows our customers to make transactions, works efficiently. It is also responsible for preparing regular dashboards to the Central bank.
• Core transactions team is responsible for several mission critical high load services at Coins. For example, an internal ledger that is responsible for making payments between accounts or a service that monitors customer activity limits.
• Crypto team maintains and develops the backend services of Coins.pro app: quotes for exchanges, cryptocurrency integrations, trader bots on crypto exchanges, money balancers. Current stack is Golang and Python.
• UX Core team develops new products, scales and maintains existing systems, and creates meaningful user experiences.
• Integrations team is responsible for integrating our application with third parties’ systems to make their experience with us seamless. Such integrations allow them to show Coins.ph payment options on their app or website.

Technologies We Use

• Python (mostly Django, you may rarely encounter Tornado, aiohttp, and Flask);
• Go (domain-driven design based on Go-Kit);
• Terraform to manage AWS and treat Infrastructure as Code;
• Helm as Package Manager for Kubernetes allows us to have a decent contract between Product Engineering and Site Reliability Engineer team;
• Kubernetes with enhanced monitoring (Prometheus), vertical and horizontal pod auto-scaler, and network security policies;
• Postgres, Kafka, Redis;
• Jaeger, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of Python and Go, Django, noSQL and relational databases;
• At least 3 years of commercial experience in designing, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining large scale applications in any language or stack;
• Readiness to communicate independently with various stakeholders.

Good To Have

• Experience as a team lead or project manager is a plus;
• Well-maintained Github profile with samples of your prior work, relevant open-source commits or other public work vetted by developers online is a big plus.
