Job Description
General Description:
A Payroll Associate is responsible for payroll processing tasks which includes, but are not limited to, consolidation of payroll inputs, completion of payroll summaries, review of payroll registers, generation of bank files, and validation of the work of other members of the team. The role acts as a primary back-up for the payroll specialists. The role partners with the specialists and the team leader to work on personal development and meet career progression/development objectives while observing a culture of continuous improvement and performance excellence inside and outside of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.) Payroll Processing
- Basic processing of client/customer payroll including bonuses, adjustments, and ad-hoc requests
- Collates information for clients, process, produce reports and journals, and files
- Prepares, codes, and processes journals for employee provisions (when applicable)
- Reconciles payroll related general ledger accounts
- Prepares various payroll related reports for managers
- Termination and redundancy calculations as required
- End of year processing and reconciliation including payment summaries, tax annualization, and other associated reports
- Reports to the Payroll Team Leader
- Works with specialists to deliver accurate and timely payroll.
- Serves as Tier 2 support group for the contact center team.
2.) Back-Up Resource
- Serves as a back-up resource for other members of the team ensuring business continuity
- Identifies and implements process improvement initiatives
- Raises issues and risks as encountered in operations
- Assists in the maintenance of process documentations ensuring processes are accurately captured, and compliance to acceptable global standards
3.) Technical and Functional Knowledge which includes, but is not limited to:
- Be up-to-date and informed of existing process flows
- Collaborates with the support functions to be abreast of changes and new system functionalities
- Cascades to team new and updated information.
4.) Reporting which includes, but is not limited to:
- Assists in the generation and creation of client-specific and internal reporting requirements
- Supports internal reporting requirements – productivity and efficiency, performance, and service delivery
- Participates in Service Delivery reviews with client/customer and internal management team (when necessary)
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of Accounting or any Finance related course.
- Experience as a payroll processor for an employee base of at least 200 employees
- Experience in outsourced payroll services as a service provider is a plus.
- Experience in managing multiple clients in varying industries.
- At least 1 year of experience as a payroll processor
- With training in payroll and/or compensation and benefits administration.
- Knowledgeable in end-to-end Payroll Processing
- Demonstrated ability to work on different MS Office Tools such as excel, work, powerpoint, visio, etc.
- With a great deal of customer service focus and attention to details
- Good written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills
