Job Description
- Monitor and validate trends and potential leads from social media and key internet channels such as Twitter, Facebook, blogs, and others, write news articles on such leads or refer these to News Digital editors for action;
- Write social media copy points, blurbs, or captions;
- Write original news or repurpose for publishing by News Digital properties materials gathered by ABS-CBN journalists;
- Perform research as may be requested or assigned in relation to the Project;
- Monitor other mainstream media;
- Perform field work as may be requested or assigned - possibly coordinate or help in coordinating events, cover events or do newsgathering, or perform mobile journalism
- Design or execute visuals like infographics or social media art cards; and
- Perform other works related to the Project as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of Journalism or any related course (Liberal Arts, Broadcast Communication, Information Communication, Developmental Communication, Communication Arts), or Visual/Digital Arts, or Public Administration/Political Science;
- Has demonstrated interest and competence to become a journalist (with submitted works to media organizations, with published articles/stories, and/or was a member of a high school or college newspaper) for digital, social, legacy, or to provide support services for journalism such as data mining, data visualization, or video editing and production;
- Must be well-versed in social networking sites Twitter and Facebook
- Must be open to 8-hour work days as well as working weekends/holidays on shifting schedules.
