Job Description
The Corporate Planning Manager is responsible for delivering annual business plan and budget including forecasts and reviews, ongoing business performance monitoring, reporting, analysis and insights, and post investment review of commercial decisions and deals.
The role’s challenges lie primarily in the breadth of its accountabilities, requiring significant commercial agility, a nose for inconsistencies, the ability to go beyond the analysis of data to arrive at true business insight, and the presence to support senior leaders in robust commercial decision-making.
Key Responsiblities Include:
- Developing and/ or implementing leading practice and processes for business planning, enterprise budgeting, enterprise performance monitoring and analysis, financial modelling, and post-investment review
- Overseeing the annual enterprise-wide business planning and budgeting cycle, including budget development as well as periodic reviews with revenue and cost center owners, and enterprise-wide reforecasting
- Being involved in the due diligence and financial modelling activity for strategic business opportunities and initiatives using a range of modelling and scenario-building tools, ensuring rigorous testing of assumptions and risks to aid high quality decision-making by the leadership team
- Together with members of the Business Development and Project Management teams, undertaking thorough strategic and tactical commercial analysis of business opportunities, risks, and threats
- Drawing reliable and timely financial and non-financial data and information together from a range of sources and provide thorough analysis, insights and options to enable the leadership team make sound business decisions
- Designing and delivering ad hoc performance reporting and analytics for a range of business requirements focused on the key drivers of value in the enterprise
- Conducting post-investment reviews of major business initiatives, projects and investments
- Contributing broadly to strategic and operational priorities, discussions and decisions as a member of the Finance Group and drive collaboration and sharing of best practice
- Actively participating in business unit and/ or enterprise-wide programs, initiatives and projects as required
Minimum Qualifications
- A graduate of Accountancy, Finance, Economics, or its equivalent
- With at least 5 years experience in the field of budget and corporate financial planning
- Substantial and relevant commercial and/ or management reporting experience
- An in-depth knowledge of business planning, budgeting and budget review processes, financial modelling and post investment review tools and methodologies, and enterprise performance analytics and reporting
- Highly developed understanding of commercial realities and well-developed business acumen
- Highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge in the field of infrastructure industry is an advantage
