Job Description
Job Summary:
A VP for Engineering is a great team builder and great people and process manager to develop our industry-leading software platform. He or she will build and manage the overall engineering process and team, including hiring, coaching, developing, and retaining a high-performing team that exceeds objectives and who delivers on time.
The VP Engineering’s job is to make everyone in the engineering organization successful and he/she needs to immediately fix the issues that are getting in the way of success.
Duties:
- Ensure the efficient shipment of high-quality software and a predictable schedule.
- Facilitate and ensure the creation of sustainable adherence to architecture, development, and QA standards and processes.
- Take responsibility for all Engineers' professional and personal development in the organization.
- Achieve and maintain headcount of Engineers as needed to achieve targets.
- Ensure that Engineers operate at their best productivity and efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5 years in a senior management role developing product or web applications;
- At least 3 years of proven experience implementing Agile (Scrum or Kanban) based approach in leading the development team;
- Demonstrated success in building and leading an engineering organization with multiple functional areas and diverse profiles;
- Proven ability to hire the best developers/engineers,
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills to develop a high-performing team;
- Business savvy and has working knowledge in Lean Startup Methodologies;
- Previous hands-on software development experience using different programming languages;
Desired Experience:
- Overseeing Architecture, Development, QA, Site Reliability, and Performance functions within an engineering department;
- Leading mobile applications development team;
- Managing SaaS and/or Marketplace companies;
- Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence and Data Science;
- Supporting multi-products used in multiple markets and locations;
- Earned peer or professional recognition for technical or managerial excellence;
- Operating in a fast-paced, high-productive startup environment that requires continuous innovation;
- B.S in Computer Science or any related engineering field.
