Job Description

Position Overview:

As the Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in both overseeing the day-to-day operations of our accounting services and spearheading the creation and leadership of a dynamic team of accounting professionals from inception. This dual responsibility presents a unique opportunity to shape the direction of our accounting services division while ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to our clients. Your leadership will be instrumental in laying the groundwork and structural framework for our division, setting the stage for success as we embark on our journey to disrupt the industry


  1. Develop and implement the strategic vision and framework for the accounting services division, aligning with the startup's overall mission and objectives.
  2. Recruit, onboard, and train a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  3. Implement scalable processes and workflows to streamline accounting operations and ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  4. Oversee the delivery of accounting services to clients — specifically Accounts Payable and Receivable, Billing, Credit Management, General Ledger, and Financial Accounting, ensuring high-quality service delivery and client satisfaction.
  5. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and incorporate them into the startup's accounting services framework.
  6. Handle escalated client issues and inquiries, and work proactively to resolve any challenges or concerns.
  7. Monitor key performance metrics and KPIs, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize team performance and productivity.
  8. Lead by example, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members, and empowering them to reach their full potential.
  9. Contribute to the development and execution of marketing and sales strategies to promote the startup's accounting services and drive business growth.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in accounting operations/shared services, with expertise in accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, credit, and financial accounting.
  • Profound knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Experience working in an accounting startup, accounting shared services, or back-office, is a plus.
  • Experience in a multi-family and/or real estate property management industry is also an advantage.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to envision and execute a roadmap for the accounting services division.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
