Cloud Security Engineer  

As a Cloud Security Engineer, you’ll work directly with customers to meet their security needs within the cloud, including remediating any identified security gaps within cloud environments.

Role Description

In this role, the candidate will provide ongoing technical support to ScaleSec customers, as an essential contributor to the customer's global security team. The candidate will provide support for day-to-day operations in the cloud, guiding customers on cloud solutions architecture, performing changes, and troubleshooting.

Job Responsibilities

• Work hands-on with teams such as cloud operations, DevOps, incident response, platform, product, and application teams to protect and manage cloud environments
• Identify and address non-compliance with established baselines and standards
• Guide and assist application teams through the design and implementation of cloud workloads
• Remediate insecure and misconfigured cloud resources
• Analyze logs and ensure appropriate monitoring and alerting are in place and effective for responding to potential security incidents
• Follow architectural and security best practices for cloud configurations
• Use HashiCorp Terraform to create secure infrastructure-as-code to deploy, manage, and remediate existing resources within the cloud environment
• Support developers to ensure insecure resources are not provisioned or configured
• Implement and train teams on the usage of security best practices

Required Education

• Bachelor's Degree in any related courses

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Communicate effectively with writing and verbal communication using the English language
• At least 2 years of experience in an information technology role
• At least 1 year of hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure
• At least 1 years of hands-on experience managing an enterprise IT environment
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture and security principles
• Associate-level cloud architect certification for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure

Preferred Qualifications

• Security+ certification or similar
• AWS, GCP, or Azure professional cloud architect or security specialty certifications
• Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and/or remediating cloud resources
• Demonstrated ability to read, write, and maintain secure and reusable Terraform
• Experience utilizing or maintaining an IaC CI/CD pipeline and policy enforcement
• Experience with Python scripting to automate manual processes
• Understanding of common cloud network infrastructure, including firewalls and security groups, routing, VPNs, and DNS within the cloud
