Applied Systems Manufacturing Corporation or ASMC is a Filipino based manufacturer of diesel generators and sheet metal fabricated products. Since its foundation in 1986, it has specialized in manufacturing high quality soundproof generating sets and has currently diversified into making air compressors, light towers and electric motor driven equipments. Export of customized gensets has reached the United Kingdom, Australia, China and Saudi Arabia while local sales cover numerous units being supplied to prominent clients such as Globe Telecom and Metro Bank companies. History APPLIED SYSTEMS MANUFACTURING CORPORATION had its humble beginnings in 1986 when it started out as an importer and assembler of diesel generators under the name Applied Systems Resources Corporation. Right after martial law the power situation in the country was precarious as the new government contemplated on junking the Bataan nuclear power plant. This boded well for upstarts in the power generation business. A small genset assembly shop was started in Mandaluyong where open-type generating sets were assembled and sold in the local market. Due to local manufacturing, a competitive edge was gained over other market players who sold fully imported units. A bright future for the company business was discernible. In 1990, the company assumed distributorship of a line of diesel engines manufactured by IVECO (a member of the Italian FIAT group of companies). Iveco engine population in the Philippines was nil and a lot of work needed to be done to gain a foothold and acceptance in the market. Thus started a long and fruitful relationship between Iveco and Applied Systems, which up to the present influences the latter’s goals and objectives. The nineties was a busy and highly rewarding decade for the company. There was great demand for generating sets due to massive outages caused by inadequate power supply from the grid. Iveco has become an acceptable brand and clearly competing with the major brands in the market. Applied Systems likewise became well known in the Philippine genset industry, supplying large number of units to reputable companies like Metrobank, Globe Telecom, ShoeMart Inc., Petron, Equitable PCI Bank, PS Bank and many others. Years of dedication, hard work and competence have yielded good results and the company was prepared to make another leap into the future. The year 2000 saw the opening of a new genset factory in Dasmariñas, Cavite that is well-equipped to build soundproof generating sets. Since then, product quality has greatly improved and can now be considered at par with the leading makes in the international market. The local market gave it its stamp of approval such that most of the generators sold currently are soundproof. Generating sets manufacturing in the Philippines has come a long way and Applied Systems strive to remain at the forefront. Product development work on compressors (Airmac) and light towers (Genesis) have been completed and these have been launched in the market. Further, design and engineering work on electric utility vehicles are currently in progress as well as research for feasible products that utilize alternative energy sources.
