OVERVIEW OF ALLIED WORLD HEALTHCARE AND OUR WORK

Allied World Healthcare (AWH) is a social enterprise working to bring universal basic healthcare services to users in low-access, developing regions through an innovative service model and technology platform. Our approach focusses on using existing community facilities (such as shops, churches, schools etc) and people to use a key technology platform to help deliver basic healthcare services to their fellow citizens. This allows core health services to be distributed further into communities to where traditional healthcare services don’t reach (such as Barangay Health Centres), giving basic support locally but also providing a patient navigation service to help find local clinics, understand financing options (PhilHealth, PCSO etc) and generally connect communities with regional and national healthcare facilities.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Our mission requires lean and agile processes to deliver our services through use of novel cloud sourcing and hosting models and efficient development methods and technologies.

Allied World Healthcare is seeking to take on a highly motivated Java or Python-based development team leader to enrich and increase our core team. We have current applications built using Java, node.JS, Spring MVC, MySQL that need to be maintained and enhanced. We are also wanting to re-engineer this application into mobile technologies using Python, Java Script frameworks and more innovative mobile delivery techniques.

The core role scope and responsibilities of the Software Developer will be:

• Develop AWH’s existing Java-based applications.
• Work on new Python-based development projects.
• Work with users and stakeholders to scope out new requirements.
• Develop and maintain databases, as well as reporting systems and data-driven IT solutions.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A selection of the following and be prepared to assess and learn new techniques appropriate to system redevelopment:
  • Java
  • Javascript
  • Python
  • Node.js
  • Restful API
  • Mongo / MySQL
  • Azure / AWS
• Knowledge of digital technology and with some involvement in software development.
• Understanding of healthcare systems and/or technology is a strong advantage.
• Knowledge of Tagalog and English is a strong advantage, as well as any other regional dialects/languages.
• Stong communication skills.
• Excellent team working skills, ability to work under pressure, and flexibility to work as part of a small-but-growing team in a dynamic way.
