Job Description

  • The Trader is responsible in for bidding the electricity output of Aboitiz Powers Generation Assets in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) and or directly to the Customer recipients on an hourly, day ahead, week ahead, and real time basis with concurrence to the overall strategy approved by Trading Manager, VP for Trading, and FVP for ETS.
  • Analyzes required data such as coal inventory and variable costs, including constraints in plant operations to be used to design in a bidding strategy to ensure optimization of revenue
  • Creates and submits real-time and a day-ahead offers to WESM (Luzon & Visayas and IMEM (Mindanao) after taking into considerations the data requirements including plant capability
  • Conceptualizes and develops plant dispatch models to determine dispatch schedules and energy prices and implements such for the day-ahead price and volume offers into the WESM
  • Ensures smooth coordination with the Systems Operations, Market Operations, and Plant Operations personnel to achieve efficiency in the trading operations
  • Monitors, analyzes, and coordinates the status of WESM energy market, including competitor’s offering pattern and strategy to come up with and implement competitive market offers within the pre-arranged parameters; beyond the parameters, recommends pricing offers for approval by Trading Manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and planning skills;
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Knowledge of WESM and client business processes
  • Analytical skills in terms of competitive market behavior for bidding purposes
  • Knowledge of market data and competitive offers in the market for competitive bidding
  • At lest 2 years experience in the Power Industry preferably in Electricity Trading
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance or any 4 year business course
