Back-end Developer  

Kumu is looking for a Back-End Web Developer responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will also be responsible for integrating the front-end elements built by your coworkers into the application. A basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Review Backend Development ensuring robust and efficient internal APIs, documenting and recommending optimizations
• Collaborate with the engineering team to define, design, stress testing, and ship new features
• Collaborate in technical design sessions and produce/document technical design for code changes and enhancements.
• Work on bug fixing and improving platform performance
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technology
• Integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic
• Building reusable code and libraries for future use
• Optimization of the application for maximum speed and scalability
• Implementation of security and data protection

• Highly proficient in PHP
• Proficiency in Golang (Go) is a plus
• Knowledge of MySQL, NoSQL (Redis), DynomoDB, Serverless (Lambda), and scaling it in a Cloud (AWS) Environment
• Working experience in Linux administration
• Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON
• Has a strong software development foundation implementing design patterns, OOP, and coding best practices.
• Has exposure or has knowledge in high-performance computing and low latency development
• Has experience in analyzing, profiling, determining bottlenecks for improving reliability and performance.
• Has very meticulous coding and code review skills and strong backend experience
• Experienced with third-party libraries, frameworks, and APIs
• Experience in writing native modules for high-level language
• Has a working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
• Experience in server memory management, multithreading, networking & Security, a HUGE plus
• Experienced writing clean, scalable PHP and Python code for Amazon Web Services
• Highly collaborative problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to rapidly iterate from prototype to shipping product
• Comfortable with Test-Driven Development, Continuous Build and Integration methodologies
