Job Description

  • Performs job functions consistent with the vision and mission statements and the values of the institution.
  • Attends to students requiring guidance and counseling sessions as may have been referred by faculty members, school administrators, and parents; conducts individual and group counseling sessions with students who have personal, academic, disciplinary, or vocational concerns.
  • Conducts periodic, routine, in-depth, and follow-up interviews to students and applicants for admission including transferees.
  • Conducts follow-up studies on cases / clients and undertakes referrals to authorities concerned as may be necessary.
  • Prepares psychological reports, case studies and profiles of students.
  • Conducts case conferences and training programs with faculty, administrators, parents, and other significant persons concerned; Coordinates with the Chief Discipline Officer regarding disciplinary cases of students and attends disciplinary committee meetings; Coordinates with teachers and parents of students with academic and behavioral problems.
  • Collects information on and maintains multi-faceted profiling of each student through the use of the questionnaires, surveys, cumulative records file, and other anecdotal records.
  • Interprets psychological test results to students, faculty and academic administrators, and parents.
  • Coordinates with the staff, faculty and administrators in designing and conducting research studies to determine the students’ profiles as well as their needs and concerns, and to assess the effectiveness of the guidance programs.
  • Plans and implements special programs such as career fairs, interactions, seminars, group dynamics activities, etc.
  • Disseminates guidance-related information through bulletin boards, guidance gazette and other reading materials as well as during parents’ conferences and faculty meetings.
  • Prepares and implements the annual testing, research and evaluation program.
  • Recommends the use of relevant psychological and aptitude tests and assessment tools; Undertakes the acquisition of the identified instruments; Networks with other testing centers and similar institutions for the availment of assessment services.
  • Develops and validates original diagnostic instrumentation, survey designs, and research forms / tables that may be used for assessment of students and employees of the Institution.
  • Constructs local norms, expectancy tables for foreign standard tests and in conducting related studies emanating from research and test data.
  • Administers and scores psychological tests and evaluation instrument as conceptualized in the testing and research program.
  • Records and interprets test results.
  • Prepares test and evaluation profiles, research reports and abstracts for dissemination to the, administrators, faculty members, parents of students and other concerned clienteles.
  • Records test result data in the cumulative records of the students.
  • Evaluates the testing program of the office and recommends changes as well as new tests for the effective assessment of the students’ over-all performance in school.
  • Administers and interprets results of pre-employment psychological tests to applicants into the Institution and provides recommendations to the Human Resource Officer.
  • Acts as custodian of test materials, ensuring their security and confidentiality.
  • Performs such other duties and responsibilities analogous, germane or related to and/or implied from the above enumeration of duties and responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A graduate of BS Psychology or related course.
  • Master’s degree holder in psychology or in an education major in guidance and counseling is preferred with the proper PRC license.
