The Ateneo de Manila University (Ateneo) is one of the leading universities in the Philippines. More than 150 years in existence, the Ateneo has grown into a major Jesuit institution. Officially it became a university in 1959. It offers over 100 academic degree programmes. 

Ateneo offers Basic Education (Grade School, Junior and Senior High School). In addition, the Loyola Schools (college) is made up of four schools (Social Sciences; Humanities; Science and Engineering; and Management) that offer graduate and undergraduate degrees, with a total enrolment of about 10,000 students per year. Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities: 
Under the direct supervision of the General Physics Laboratory Coordinator and Chair of the Department of Physics, the Assistant Laboratory Technician I supports daily operations of the department and performs tasks to maintain the efficient operation of the department's laboratories and machine shop. 
 
 
Main Duties and Responsibilities: 
I. Coordinates with Physics laboratory users (faculty, students research assistants and graduate assistants) in preparing set-ups for researchactivities

<ul>
	<li>Sets up equipment and materials, as approved by faculty, to be used in laboratory experiments</li>
	<li>Checks availability of equipment and tests for safety use</li>
	<li>Assists in the fabrication of research tools at the machine shop</li>
	<li>Allocates equipment and materials needed for experiments</li>
	<li>Assists in ensuring that laboratory safety procedures are followed</li>
</ul>

II. Assists faculty and researchers during classes and scheduled experiments

<ul>
	<li>Performs calibration of equipment based on the instructions or standard protocols</li>
	<li>Sets up equipment and materials, as approved by faculty, to be used in scheduled laboratory class experiments</li>
	<li>Lends and logs equipment and materials to students and faculty during lab classes</li>
</ul>

III. Assists in the upkeep and overall maintenance of laboratories and the machine 
shop

<ul>
	<li>Assists in tracking consumables and hardware and makes requests for purchases when needed</li>
	<li>Assists in purchasing parts (electronic or mechanical) needed for repairs as approved by the General Physics Laboratory Coordinator or the Chair</li>
	<li>Provides recommendations for laboratory improvements and presents proposals with quotations when needed</li>
	<li>Drafts incident reports detailing accidents and similar untoward incidents in the laboratory</li>
	<li>Facilitates and documents the lending equipment and materials to students and faculty, including inter-department situations</li>
	<li>Ensures good working conditions in the machine shop through the proper storage and maintenance of equipment and tools</li>
	<li>Contacts service providers for repair and maintenance needs</li>
</ul>

IV. Performs other duties assigned by the General Physics Laboratory Coordinator 
or by the Chair

• Facilitates the process of ensuring that all local, imported, and exported products are align with regulatory mandates.

• Accountable for centralized management and maintenance of permits, licenses, and authorizations required for food production, distribution, and other operations.

• Stays vigilant in monitoring emerging issues and developments in food regulations.

• Maintains regulatory data base, capturing information relevant to the business.

• Applies for Regulatory approvals in support of Business objectives. e.g. additives/nutrition claims, product registration

• Thoroughly review and approve artwork and claims against regulations and internal policy requirements

• Actively engage in lobbying efforts to influence industry food standards and regulations.

• Champion the proactive shaping and influencing of food regulations through well-calibrated strategic initiatives.

• Performs other tasks as assigned.
