Web and Systems Developer  

1. Website Development and Maintenance

1. Write well-designed, testable and efficient code using best software development practices;
2. Create website layout and user interfaces by using standard HTML/CSS practices;
3. Responsible for maintaining, expanding and scaling the site;

2. Integration and Optimization

1. Integrate data from various back-end services and databases;
2. Optimize website performance and ensure compatibility across different browsers, devices and platforms;
3. Develop and implement new website features, tools, and functionalities to improve user engagement and drive audience growth;

3. Technical Troubleshooting and Support

1. Troubleshoot website and system problems and resolve any issues that arise;
2. Provide technical support for the website and system functionality and performance.

4. Content Management

1. Work with the UX/UI and Design team to match visual design intent and ensure that content is accurately integrated and displayed.

5. Innovation, Continuous Improvement, Performance Monitoring

1. Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities;
2. Support in the creation and implementation of marketing activations through web builds and migrations.

6. Security and Compliance

1. Ensure that web application systems are always updated and secured to comply with application security standards.
2. Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure the security and scalability of digital platforms.

7. Collaboration and Project Management

1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including editorial/content, design, product management, and other teams to develop and enhance digital news products, features and other systems used internally within the company;
2. Participate in reviewing user interface design and changes made to the product;
3. Manage project timelines, deadlines and constraints.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
• A minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in web and systems development
• Demonstrates expertise in both front-end and back-end development technologies, with a strong grasp of modern web development practices
• Proficient in HTML5, PHP, MySQL, CSS, XHTML, XML, RSS, Ajax, JavaScript (Angular JS is an advantage)
• Other web applications and systems development tools and languages
• Databases, such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL
• Problem-solving abilities, teamwork, communication skills
