Ducati – Race grade Italian Motorcycles in Philippines Ducati Motor Holding SpA or more commonly known as Ducati is a leading motorcycle manufacturing company based in Italy. It was first established in 1926 as a subsidiary motorcycle division of leading German automobile manufacturing giant Audi through its luxury division Lamborghini. It has its headquarters in Bologna in Italy. Historical Foundation Ducati was first founded by Antonio Cavalieri Ducati along with his sons – Adriano, Bruno & Marcello. They initially established a firm called "Societa Scientifica Radio Brevetti Ducati" which specialized in producing radio components, vacuum tubes and condensers. Ducati later collaborated with a small Turinese firm called "Societa Italiana per Applicazioni Techniche Auto Aviatorie" or SIATA which had manufactured a push rod engine called "Cucciolo" in 1944. In 1950, Ducati finally revealed its first Cucciolo based motorcycle prototype that had a max speed of 40mph & weighed around 48lbs. Ownerships The company was split into Ducati Meccanica & Ducati Electtronica following a government initiative to place it under "Istituto per La Ricostruzione Industriale" or IRI from 1953 – 1967. It was later acquired by VM Group in 1978 and then by Cagvia Group in 1985. Texas Pacific Group - a private investment firm based in United States of America later acquired 51% of its shares in 1996 for a sum of $352 million. It later bought most of the remaining shares by 1998 and the company was as renamed Ducati Motor Holding SpA in 1999. Texas Pacific Group later sold about 65% of its stake in Ducati but remained as the single largest shareholder in the company. Acquisition by Audi Ducati Motor Holding SpA was sold to Audi, a part of automotive multinational corporation Volkswagen Group, for a sum of $1.2 billion in April 2012. Its ownership was completely transferred to Audi's luxury subsidiary – Automobili Lamborghini SpA. Lamborghini's ownership of Ducati Motor Holding SpA was completed on 19th July 2012 for an amount of $909 million. Corporate management Ducati Motor Holding SpA is currently managed by Chairman of Board Rupert Stadler and Chief Executive Officer Claudio Domenicali. Other important corporate personalities include Executive Director Gabriele Del Torchio, Chief Financial Officer Enrico D'Onofrio, Manager of Operations Gianfranco Giorgini, Director of Investor Relations Paolo Poma and Manager of Human Resources & Personnel Danilo Bernardini. Ducati Philippines is currently managed by President Manny Cabili, Vice President Marty Escalona, Secretary Miguel Bichara and Treasurer Marty Escalona. According to company officials, Ducati Philippines is planning to inaugurate dealership stores Bacolod & Cebu in the near future. Motorsport trends Ducati made its motorsports debut in 1951 with its 100 Gran Sports model featuring its trademark Cucciolo engine. Important Motorsport achievements include 2007 Moto GP World Championship, 16 Super Bike World Championship titles from 1990 – 2011, 1997 Super Sport World Championship, 4 FIM Super Stock 1000 Championship titles from 2007 – 2011, 8 British Super Bike Championship titles from 1995 – 2008, 2 consecutive win at AMA Super Bike Championship in 1993 – 1994 and the 1999 Australian SuperBike Championship.
