Senior Merchandising Manager  

Plan and develop strategies to enable the Company to sell a range of product that delivers sales and profit targets. Is closely involved in commercial decisions in terms of money spend, lines to be bought, setting selling prices and delivery of stocks.

Key Accountabilities

1. Merchandise Planning

• Analyze consumer buying patterns and predicting future trends.
• Review performance indicators (e.g. sales and discount levels).
• Write reports and forecasting sales levels on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Give directions on pricing and audits implementation in the stores.
• Keep abreast with merchandise trends and new product lines in the market to maintain leadership in the industry.

2. Inventory Management

• Make assortment decisions at times of transition and new product additions.
• Propose price markdown and clearance activity to phase old and new product through the business within product option and profit targets.
• Coordinate closely with the Merchandising Division to ensure quality/adequate quantity of merchandise and timely delivery of stocks.

3. Vendor Management

• Locate vendors and develop new vendor relationships, including the collection of vendor information as needed for Merchandising, Accounting, Marketing and Sales
• Make decisions on new vendors to add as well as any vendors to drop
• Direct the internal and external launch of new vendor relationships and products
• Initiate and facilitate vendor training with Sales Team
• Attend vendor training as needed to monitor course content and efficacy
• Communicate vendor programs and policies to Merchandising, Accounting, Marketing and Sales

4. Team and People Management

• Provide direction to Category Merchandise Manager.
• Create the necessary action plans and/or personal development plans of subordinates to maximize job performance and growth.
• Evaluate subordinates.

• Must be a graduate of 4-year business course
• Must have (4-5 years) extensive experience in merchandising
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Sales Analysis and Forecasting
• Systems skills (Merchandising system, Microsoft applications)
• Project management
