Civil Design Engineer Specialist  

The position holder is responsible to produce the civil engineering design analysis, plans, and requirements for hydro, solar, wind, and energy storage projects in the different phases of project development (desktop investigations, screening, pre-development, and development) across multiple projects to achieve the objective of developing and executing financially and commercially viable renewable energy projects.

Key to his/her role will include:

Investigation

• Participates in and oversees site reconnaissance activities to ensure that all required data are procured within the approved schedule, timeline, and safety protocols.
• Participates in the exploration stage of new projects which will include interacting with LGUs and IPs on site to explain and help them understand the development and effects of the renewable power projects in their respective communities
• Creates feasibility study by conducting engineering designs, complying to the environmental impact studies, complying to the stakeholder relationship requirements, and collating data.

Screening

• Assist in the drafting of the Design Criteria based on the preliminary OODR (Owner’s Operation and Design Requirement), project location, boundary maps, topographic maps, aerial photographs, hydrology data, geology, and geotechnical studies, and all related engineering reports.

Pre-development & Development

• Produces engineering documents by developing construction specifications, plans, and schedules if needed, and works closely with third-party consultants in the provision of these engineering designs

• Leads or participates in the design optimization of the civil structures of projects assigned to his/her team to ensure optimized structures and project cost.

Job Qualifications:

• Knowledgeable in AutoCAD, Civil 3D , CSI SAP2000, CSI Etabs, CSI Safe, StaadPro, Staad Foundation, PVcase, Virtuosolar, and other civil engineering software for general design and solar power plant design application;
• Excellent computer skills in MS Office
• 3 years of experience related to renewable energy or power projects.
• 5 years of professional engineering practice experience
• 1 year of experience supervising people or dealing with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• Solar engineers - proficient in PVCase, VirtoSolar, Helioscope, PVCad, or other related solar plant design software. Knowledgeable of the theory, tools, and software in designing offshore structures.
• Wind engineers - skills in Openwind and other related software. Knowledgeable with theory, tools, and software in designing offshore structures.
• Expert in Autodesk AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and structural design tools such as StaadPro, StaadFoundation, Etabs, Tekla, or equivalent softwares. Proficient in the theory and foundation of structural and hydraulics engineering. Basic knowledge/experience in hydrology, geodetic survey, roads engineering, land development, geology, geotechnical engineering, and other related engineering disciplines.
• Must be a Licensed Civil Engineer
• Must be willing to travel to site locations
