The IT and Facilities Manager, is responsible for the company technology and facilities, including networking and server maintenance
Part of their responsibility is directing maintenance personnel involved in servicing electrical and mechanical problems arising from the operations of production equipment and machineries in compliance with company policies.
From storage areas to physical office spaces, a this individual is in charge to take care of day-to-day maintenance, upgrades, and management of these systems.
This manager is generally responsible for ensuring that everything that has to do with the IT system and facilities of the company is going smoothly and is A-OK.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As IT Manager:
- Running regular checks on network and data security
- Identifying and acting on opportunities to improve and update software and systems
- Developing and implementing IT policy and best practice guides for the organisation
- Designing training programs and workshops for staff
- Conducting regular system audits
- Running and sharing regular operation system reports with senior staff
- Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages
- Managing and reporting on allocation of IT budget
- Providing direction for IT team members
- Identifying opportunities for team training and skills advancement
As Facilities Manager:
- Prepare documents to put out tenders for contractors
- Project management, supervision and coordination with contractors
- Investigate the availability and suitability of options for new premises
- Calculates and compares costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum value for money
- Plan for future development in line with strategic business objectives
- Manage and lead change to ensure minimum disruption to core activities
- Direct, coordinate and plan essential services such as reception, security, maintenance, mail, archiving, cleaning, catering, waste disposal and recycling
- Ensure buildings meet health and safety requirements and that facilities comply with legislation
- Keep staff safe
- Plan best allocation and utilization of space and resources for new buildings, or re-organizing of current premises
- Check that agreed work by staff or contractors has been completed satisfactorily and follow up on any deficiencies
- Coordinate and lead one or more teams to cover various areas of responsibility
- Use performance management techniques to monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed service levels and to lead on improvement
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise and deal with the consequences.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field from an accredited university preferred
