Packaging Engineer  

Power dressing. Packaging is one of the most important ways on how we communicate who we are and so we're seeking professionals enamored with all aspects of the packaging development process to help us spread our VMVision round the world.

This job entails developing packaging formats from conception to full-scale production. The ideal candidate will support product development and marketing initiatives and progress new opportunities for innovation and cost reductions in the packaging field. The job entails dealing with local and foreign suppliers and constant coordination with the production, marketing, R&D and creative teams. Highly detail-oriented with lots of moving parts — including brainstorming, sourcing, R&D, project management, market introduction and post-market maintenance — and a dizzying pace, this job is anything but dull.

1. Graduate of Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or any scientific discipline from a reputable college or university
2. 1-2 years relevant work experience in the packaging development process gained within a similar environment ideal, but junior employees or recent graduates willing to learn and develop are welcome to apply
3. Knowledge of packaging development concepts and practices, and an understanding of how costs can be built into or out of products are advantages
4. Resourcefulness and aptitude towards research and sourcing; ability to implement technology to improve packaging development processes
5. An understanding of products, as well as commercial and business acumen, are pluses
6. Strong communication, presentation, negotiation skills as the position requires liaising with suppliers locally and abroad, as well as with a range of internal stakeholders
7. Tremendous organizational skills, effective supplier relations, cost/contract negotiations, project management experience, and, ideally, some understanding of packaging design principles are among the qualifications of a competent candidate for this post.
