Procurement Specialist  

The position is responsible for the procurement of products and services required in the operation of Sun Life of Canada (Phils) Inc., its subsidiaries and the joint venture partner, while ensuring that all transactions are in accordance with the company purchasing policies. It is also responsible for vendor/supplier sourcing, accreditation and performance evaluation and developing a strategic alliance with suppliers for cost-effective acquisitions.

Accountabilities:

• Handles procurement of product category assigned.
• Develops spend planning through procurement projections and category project plan through Demand Management strategy.
• Develops/Reviews specifications and acceptance criteria.
• Analyzes market, reviews supplier base and pricing structure.
• Manages and issues bids/quotations/RFP and develops terms and conditions based on specifications and level of service.
• Determines alternative method of procurement i.e. blanket P.O., contracting, bid or auction.
• Evaluates competitive offering to determine the overall best offer for a product.
• Negotiates with potential supplier for best value.
• Short-lists and appraises suppliers.
• Develops and implements supplier management strategy.
• Tracks supplier performance and resolves contract problems with suppliers.
• Conducts end-to-end processing and monitoring of Purchase Orders (Request to Payment).
• Generates and monitors savings through the cost-reduction initiative.
• Keeps abreast on new products and technology updates.
• Manages contracts of suppliers.
• Ensures product standardization to streamline the purchasing process.

• Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, or Business Management.
• 5 years experience in Procurement, Purchasing/ Supply Chain.
• Knowledge in the following Engineering Industries:
  • Facilities Construction (design and general works)
  • Contract Development and Management
  • Technical sourcing and short-listing of suppliers/contractors.
• Technical Skills:
  • Basic Purchasing Process
  • Understanding of Supply Chain Management
  • Proficiency in MS office applications
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Competent in developing and executing procurement contracts
