Information Specialist  

The Information Technology Specialist 1 is mainly responsible for providing primary support for LAN, PC and telecommunications hardware and software for assigned sites. Other key responibilities are stated below:

• Troubleshoot PC hardware and software and assist end-users with day-to-day operating problems.
• Train media personnel, teachers, and administrative staff in basic computer operation, telephone, PC and networking applications.
• Serve as the LAN administrator for the buildings assigned.
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
• Install and configure computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
• Plan and undertake scheduled maintenance upgrades.
• Set up accounts for staff, ensuring that they know how to log in.
• Solve password problems.
• Talk to clients and computer users to determine the nature of any problems they encounter.
• Respond to breakdowns
• Investigate, diagnose, and solve computer software and hardware faults.
• Repaire equipment and replace parts.
• Supervise Junior Engineering and Technical Staff.
• Obtain replacement or specialist components, fixtures, or fittings.
• Check computer equipment for electrical safety.
• Maintain records of software licenses.
• Manage stocks of equipment, consumables, and other supplies.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology.
• Experience using a ticketing system for technical support.
• Minimum of 2 years configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 7, 8.1, 10).
• Familiar with Networking concepts (DHCP, DNS, VPN, WiFi, etc).
