Farm Manager  

HOPE is currently engaged in a new product that will reinvest its profits to improve the productivity and profitability of smallholder coconut farmers in the Philippines. As part of this program, we are establishing a Breeding Farm that aims to provide for the seedling needs in SOCCSKSARGEN and beyond. This Breeding Farm will also serve as a research facility, as well as training grounds where smallholder farmers can learn leading coconut farming practices. We are seeking a Farm Manager who will be responsible for day-to-day oversight and implementation of HOPE’s Breeding Farm, including:

• Providing overall project management, monitoring, and oversight of farm activities;
• Providing direction and coordination of work activities such as planting, field maintenance, irrigation, fertilizer and chemical application, harvesting, grading, payroll, and recordkeeping;
• Managing and maintaining equipment, farm building and other infrastructures;
• Monitoring quality of harvested seed nuts and seedlings;
• Aggregating project level data to continuously improve interventions and provide regular reports on learnings and impact to management and key stakeholders.

We are seeking for someone who is passionate about agriculture and empowering smallholder farmers to achieve their full potential. Candidates should:

• Possess at least Bachelor's degree in Agriculture (preferably major in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Soil Science) or Agricultural Engineering;
• Have at least 4 years experience in farm production and management of any crop;
• Have at least 4 years experience in staff/farm worker supervision;
• Have experience working on agriculture, community or rural development, with experience on project management, administration and stakeholder management;
• Knowledge in Climate-Smart Agriculture is an advantage;
• Be computer savvy, with experience with MS Office and Google App, as well as strong analytical skills;
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and achieve results through collaboration;
• Be fluent in English, Tagalog, and/or Bisaya.
• Idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-orientation, adaptability and self-direction are critical, as are exceptional organizational, communication and management skills.
