Research Lead  

BuildZoom is a California-based startup that makes it easier to hire a contractor for any residential or commercial construction project in the U.S. Our intelligent marketplace uses construction data to bring transparency to the industry and helps homeowners and contractors find the right match. BuildZoom’s mission is to find the perfect contractor for any residential or commercial renovation or new construction project.

As a team leader you must be able to effectively set goals for the research team and track their performance. You will collaborate closely with the Team Lead for the writers, as well as with business partners in San Francisco to help set goals, make sure the teams are collaborating well, and help each of the members in each team improve their performance and productivity.

In order to be an effective leader, the Research TL will need to develop a solid understanding of the tasks and responsibilities of each team, inspire and motivate its members, and proactively implement improvements to existing processes.

• Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
• Set clear team goals and deadlines for the researchers
• Oversee day-to-day operation
• Monitor team performance and report on metrics to San Francisco team
• Discover training needs and provide coaching
• Listen to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts
• Recognize high performance and reward accomplishments
• Proactively come up with and implement improvements in existing processes

• Analytical mindset with in-depth knowledge of performance metrics
• Strong PC skills, especially Google Suite tools, including sheets, docs, calendar, etc.

• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
• Degree in Management or training in team leading is a plus
