Arabic Language Specialist  

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Convert text, video, and audio recordings from English to the native language required and vice versa
  • ​Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone
  • Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy
• Stays current on new translation tools and practices
  • Thorough knowledge of the institutions, culture, attitudes, and practices in the countries where that language is spoken
  • Keeps himself/herself up to date with the current trends in translation
  • Keeps himself/herself aware of the latest tools and/or software needed to ensure the quality translation is presented at all times
• Prepares required reports to track deliverables
  • Files JO on a timely basis
  • Submits a monthly report to the Translation Supervisor and/or Department Manager for cross-checking of deliverables
  • Submits a consolidated year-end report
• Recommends improvements for the department

• Fluency in English and the required native language
• Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role
• MUST be able to communicate well in English (written and verbal)
• Can translate materials in a fast paced environment
• Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
• MUST be able to handle criticism and rejection
• MUST be able to work with teams and independently and have the ability to promote themselves and their work
• MUST be sensitive and considerate to other cultures; able to fit into a multicultural working environment
