Software Test Engineer  

A Test Engineer is the gate-keeper of the product. S/he makes sure that the defects are properly addressed by the development team and they should never be seen by the user. It’s a cardinal rule for a tester to know the business rules of the application and how to test them. S/he must also know how to establish and manage the proper acceptance criteria.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Must have 5+ years of experience in software testing
• Must have at least 3 years of experience in testing web-based applications
• Must have at least 2 years of experience in testing mobile applications
• Must have at least 3 years of experience in creating test plan, test scenarios, test cases or scripts
• Must have least 3 years of experience in using any testing tools
• Must have experience in contributing to SDLC practice including: business analysis, testing and implementation
• Must have good oral and written English communication
• Must lead junior tester/s in the performance of their roles

DESIRABLE SKILLS

• Can communicate directly to clients
• Can handle multiple projects at the same time
• Can clarify and initiate development tasks proactively
• Must be able to work well with client and team members
• Can validate developed web-based and mobile applications in accordance with the project requirements of the client/product owner
• Can demonstrate and perform walkthroughs for purposes of: system presentations, system acceptance, interim reviews of the applications
• Can work with Clients and Scrum Masters to develop product backlog, work break down structure and estimation
• Can train or present to other testers after studying/researching assigned topic
• Graduate of an IT course or equivalent
