This Unit Manager Used To Juggle Three Jobs In Different Industries

We often hear people say that graduation is closing one chapter of your life and opening another. While what they say is true, fresh graduates are also faced with multiple challenges they must navigate. Contrary to being introverted, France Dominique Guilas refused to lock herself inside her comfort box. During her job hunt, she made an effort to look for opportunities in different fields. This is because her passion is not boxed within a specific industry or role. Her excitement comes from seeing things she planned to come to life. This is the very core of the jobs she tried before, may it be full-time, part-time, or freelance. Being a jack of all trades with skills in finance, graphic design, and social media branding, it wasn’t impossible for her to take on three different jobs at once. 

Of course, France continued searching for the best career for her. For her personal growth and financial stability, she decided to try multiple occupations. Though she was juggling three jobs at once, she finally found the career where she can achieve the benefits and growth that she needs.

Meet France

Because she graduated with a degree in Economics, France had a headstart in her role due to her background in finance. She was set on pursuing a career in the financial industry and worked hard to become a financial analyst. She continued to work in finance while doing graphic design and social media branding on the side. Aside from having another source of income, she wanted to get out of her comfort zone. “It was part of the career plan to explore para malaman ano talaga ‘yung magfifit sakin,” she added.

At first, her parents did not agree with France taking on part-time jobs. As an economics graduate, they believed she should have pursued the career aligned with her college program. Despite this challenge, France remained firm with her decision to work multiple jobs as she strived to achieve the goal she wanted not just for herself, but for her family as well. As a family-oriented person, her priority is to work remotely so she can spend more time with them. France was set on becoming a career woman.

Now, she’s been working as a Unit Manager at GESLIA Pru Life UK with more than 40 financial consultants, 900 clients, and Php 1.7 billion worth of life insurance. She helps consultants grow so their clients achieve their financial goals. “The more advisors we help, the more clients they help,” she said.

Despite coming from diverse fields such as IT, medicine, or law, France’s favorite thing in her company is the fact that everyone treats each other like family. “Mapapalabas ‘yung daldal mo, parang nasa circle of barkada,” she shared. 

She also pointed out how GESLIA Pru Life UK helps beginners learn and grow as advisors. She also mentioned that one of the most important things in being a financial advisor is the mentor who will guide you throughout your journey as one. Remembering their current Branch Manager who is one of the top advisors, she recalled: “She grew because of other people, and she helped us grow.”

Lastly, France also loves her company’s generosity when it comes to incentives. A lot of her co-workers get to visit different countries such as Japan, Singapore, and Switzerland for training which also helps produce skilled and knowledgeable financial advisors.

“Don’t be afraid to reroute to find the right career for you. If it’s meant for you, it will happen. If nahihirapan [ka] ngayon, don’t be afraid to explore other opportunities. That other opportunity might lead you to the right or best one.” This is France’s advice to struggling job seekers who are searching for the best career path for them.
