What It’s Like Being LGBT in the Workplace (INFOGRAPHIC)
As much as we’d like to say that we live in a progressed society where we accept all shapes, sizes, and dimensions, that’s just not the case. Yes, we are more liberal and accepting today than we were oh, 30 years ago but at the same time we are seeing newer and more radical forms of discrimination. Orlando was not an accident. Even in the workplace, where your sexual orientation shouldn’t have anything to do with your work, there’s a huge elephant in the office.
For members of the LGBT community, finding a job isn’t just a matter of where or what the work is. Like anyone should consider, it also matters who the people are and what the company culture is like. It’s comforting to know there exist work environments that are very open and make their LGBT employees feel safe and more importantly, like every other employee; but there are also those who make these employees feel the need to hide. The Atlantic put together an infographic on what being LGBT in the workplace looks like. Take a look at just a portion of the real picture.
