It is no doubt that the Filipina beauty is being hailed recognized by the international stage. Just last year, we took home two crowns in two of the world's major beauty pageants—Angela Ong as Miss Earth 2015, and Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach as Miss Universe 2015, while in other pageants, the Philippines made it into the top 10. Which just goes to show how world-class we Filipinos are.
But have you ever wondered what happens after a winner's year of reign? We have compiled 5 of our former beauty queens to give you a glimpse into their current lives and also a little flashback to the moment when they were crowned.
1. Gemma Cruz-Araneta - Miss International 1964
2. Gloria Diaz - Miss Universe 1969
3. Margarita Moran - Miss Universe 1973
4. Lara Quigaman - Miss International 2005
5. Karla Paula Henry - Miss Earth 2008
After the glitz and glamour, the TV appearances and photoshoots, parades and world travels, these queen B's still prove that being an inspiration to the nation, and to the world, does not end when you pass on the crown. At the end of the day, what's important is that these pageants, and also with any other international competitions, have proven that the Filipino blood is world-class.
