As companies leverage tech for business expansion and operational improvements, professionals can also look to I.T. to establish a career and best build their finances

As the digital age rages on with new advancements coming about on a regular basis, information technology (I.T.) continues to be increasingly present across industries. Be it in human resources, finance, or healthcare, I.T. is now part of almost any business plan, with a variety of solutions now typically included in operational and administrative processes.

This has resulted in a growing demand for tech professionals, who often serve as major assets to their companies by being primarily responsible for the establishment and continued development of various I.T. systems, processes, products, and services which are integral in keeping the business going.

The need for individuals with skills and experience in I.T. remains exceptionally high, so much so that professionals in the tech industry command, and are subsequently offered, some of the highest salaries in the general job market. A quick peek at the jobs currently listed on Kalibrr, and it is evident that I.T. can indeed be a lucrative career path for you.

Engineer

Expected to have considerable technical expertise and demonstrable personal accomplishments and experience with using open source tools and projects, along with being proficient with pattern design, automated testing and fault-tolerant systems, software engineers are often tasked to create and maintain IT architecture, large scale data stores and cloud-based systems. They are also required to be familiar with how to build scalable data pipelines and scalable domain specific languages.

With such an extensive job role, software engineers are among the most highly paid in the tech industry. Among the job vacancies currently listed on Kalibrr, those for software engineers feature maximum salaries of as much as Php150,000 to Php190,000 per month. Salaries vary between engineers’ responsibilities, as some jobs are as a Full Stack Engineer, DevOps Engineer, and as a Lead Software Engineer, to name a few.

Developer

Typically tasked to monitor project updates and reported defects in order to make and manage necessary modifications, developers constantly shift between assigned projects, deadlines and schedules, and are among the tech professionals who are constantly in contact with clients for the purposes of collaboration.

Required to compare needs with software capabilities, developers are also expected to have excellent analytical skills on top of being extensively familiar with computer languages that allows them to effectively work with computer programs. At present, developers, be it working on the frontend or backend of a system, or wholly specializing in mobile or full-stack development, can earn a salary of as much as Php120,000 per month, depending on their skills and experience.

Analyst

Analysts are differentiated from other tech professionals as their tasks are most focused on the design and implementation of information setups which help optimize organizational efficiency. They are most responsible for the analysis of existing systems for improvement, the recommendation of new system processes, and the creation and upkeep of detailed reports of all structural and process changes.

Serving as subject matter experts, analysts work with clients to gather and record business requirements and functional specifications, those of which developers, engineers, and testers will use to ensure IT solutions meet their needs. The business systems, I.T., or program analyst role is indeed a wide-reaching one that also continues to evolve, enough to command salaries as high as Php80,000 per month.

An Upward Career Trajectory

As development of new software and other related advancements continue to be at its fastest in the I.T. industry, the opportunities for career growth within are just as extensive. Evolving and expanding technologies have led to roles expanding and overlapping, where some of the responsibilities of the previously mentioned I.T. positions, as well as others, are fulfilled by the same professional via training/upskilling and experience.

Specializations however, still continue to thrive in I.T., which is also a testament to how considerable the industry’s growth is. The exponential increase in the tech requirements of some companies have led to their building of tech teams where individuals have specified roles, allowing professionals to take on designer, programmer, and cyber security positions which pay as much as Php70,000 to Php90,000 per month.

Like in other businesses, opportunities for managerial or leadership roles also abound in I.T. The constant and rapid growth in the industry has resulted in the similarly quick expansion of tech teams for some businesses, leading to an increased demand for tech professionals who can serve as team leads, managers, and directors of I.T. departments and companies on the local and international front, and earn as much as over Php100,000 per month.
