Job Description
The Digital Content Writer will be an experienced writer of digital content for external and internal facing audiences and be adept at both long and short form writing. The ideal candidate should have experience writing for such social media channels as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and additional social media platforms as needed. The Digital Content Writer will be a core part of the digital team, and will help coach other team members in the department about digital writing best practices. It is essential that s/he has experience working for corporate channels and ideally in financial services/insurance. This Writer will be a strong collaborator, able to manage multiple assignments and seek assistance when needed.
Responsibilities
- Provide copywriting for clients marketing website, intranet, clients social media channels and other digital channels as needed.
- Be the voice of the clients corporate brand and ensure all messaging adheres to corporate brand and editorial guidelines.
- Collaborate with the content team to generate story ideas.
- Collect input from stakeholders, brainstorm, ideate through discovery sessions, evaluate briefs, to come up with topics and themes to write about to further the corporate brand and story.
- Work closely with SEO agency and weave SEO principles and best practices into all external content.
- Create complementary posts for different channels with a sensitivity to the kind of writing/visuals that works for each channel.
- Work with stakeholders within the team and in the lines of business across the company to edit and provide feedback on posts and content that they may develop based on their projects.
- Write long and short form copy: website feature articles, tweets, Facebook posts, banner and promotional teaser and some ad copy.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts in the lines of business and external creative agencies on development of content.
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree required, in Advertising, Literature, Journalism, Writing, or English degree.
- 3+ years in digital writing with at least two years of digital agency experience.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- A track record of developing compelling content; creative approach to financial topics.
- A thorough understanding of digital media and how readers consume content on the web and in social media.
- Proven ability to take sophisticated financial topics and make the content simple, clear and accessible to a general consumer and/or employee audience.
- Experience writing content for SEO.
- Ability to organize, present thoughts, and communicate ideas with clarity.
- Ability to conduct research to be knowledgeable on the topic, conduct fact checking, and know how to use the research to identify where the white space opportunity is.
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple writing assignments both long and short form.
- Demonstrate effective interaction at all levels, internally and externally, engendering confidence and professional regard as a trusted, credible and valued colleague.
